The Degree Course in Occupational Therapy is part of the Class of the Degrees in Health Rehabilitation Professions (L / SNT2) as defined by the D.M. University and Research of 16 March 2007. It is divided into three years and is established within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.Under the law of 10 August 2000 n.251, art. 2, paragraph 1, therapist graduates identify themselves with the type of health professions in the rehabilitation area who, in professional autonomy, perform prevention, treatment and rehabilitation tasks, as well as functional assessment procedures to carry out the proper competencies envisaged by the professional profile, in subjects suffering from physical and mental illnesses and disorders, both with temporary and permanent disabilities.The graduate identifies the patient's health needs, with particular attention to the subject's expectations, to the family and to the socio-environmental situation; evaluates the difficulties and resources regarding functionality, autonomy, and integration into the living environment; chooses the appropriate interventions to make the patient reach the maximum possible recovery of skills and competencies in the motor, cognitive, motivational and occupational field. It also implements specific interventions and educates family members and caregivers to promote the autonomy of the person and proposes the choice and implementation of environmental aids and modifications. It verifies the achievement of the objectives set for the best possible quality of life in the patient's daily life, in the home, school-work, social environment and assesses the quality of the results and the rehabilitative paths carried out.Graduates in the class must acquire adequate preparation in the basic disciplines, aimed at better understanding the fundamental elements of physiological and pathological phenomena to which their preventive and curative activity refers, as well as the maximum capacity for integration with other professional health types.The knowledge, besides Italian, of at least one further European Union language, aimed both at the specific area of competence and at the possibility of exchanging general information, is still necessary.The academic year is organized in annual courses starting in October and ending in the first week of June.Occupational areas.The graduate finds employment in social and health facilities, public or private, as an employee or as a freelancer.
