The beginning of the academic year is scheduled for 1 October and the end on 30 September. The departments, as part of teaching autonomy, are allowed to anticipate the start and end of classes.

Festive days and holidays are every Sunday and the following days:

8 December (Feast of the Immaculate Conception)
From 23 December to 5 January (Christmas Holidays)
From Thursday before Easter to the following Tuesday
25 April (Anniversary of the Liberation)
1 May (Labour Day)
11 May for the seat of Chieti (Feast of Saint Justin, patron saint of Chieti)
2 June (Republic day)
10 October for the seat of Pescara (Feast of Saint Cetteus, patron saint of Pescara)
