Adoption of Laboratory Animals

The Circular of the Ministry of Health, No. 6 of 14 May 2001, implementing Legislative Decree No. 116 of 27 January 1992, on the protection of animals used for experimental or other scientific purposes, establishes among the primary and essential objectives of the decree  - for which particular attention is required from research users - the authority granted to the veterinarian, pursuant to Article 6, paragraph 4, to decide whether to keep the animals alive at the end of the experimentation. This decision makes it possible to place animals for adoption, provided their health conditions allow it and whenever requests are submitted by animal welfare associations, private individuals, or municipalities.

In this regard, those interested in adopting animals used in biomedical research at the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti - Pescara and at the University of Teramo are invited to submit their application to:
