The CUG replaces and merges into a single body the former Committee for Equal Opportunities and the Joint Committee on Mobbing.

The Committee is established pursuant to Article 57 of Legislative Decree No. 165 of 30 March 2001 (as amended by Article 21 of Law No. 183 of 4 November 2010), the Directive of 4 March 2011 jointly issued by the Minister for Public Administration and Innovation and the Minister for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Article 37 of the Statute, and Article 80 of the General University Regulations.
